TMDSEMU560V2STM-U: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U does not work when first used

Part Number: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSLCDK6748

Hi,

My customer is suspicious of the initial defect of TMDSEMU560V2STM-U he purchased at the TI store. The emulator does not operate normally from the first time of using it.
I tested this emulator in the following environment and could not be connected to the target board.

CCS version : v9.2
TI EVM : TMDSLCDK6748

Also, after connecting the TMDSEMU560V2STM-U to the PC and USB, the Mode status LED remains at "BLINK GREEN" and the emulator does not seem to have completed the boot process.

What is the solution to this problem? Also, is it possible to replace if it is an initial defect?

  • H.U,

Do you have it properly recognized by the Windows OS? Please check the post below that has a reference for a more thorough troubleshooting procedure for this Debug Probe.

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/840110/3107230#3107230

If the information there does not help, there is a chance the probe may indeed be defective. Can you confirm with your customer if he followed the details and report back?

    Regards,

    Rafael

  • Hi Rafael,

    Thank you for your reply.

Windows device manager doesn't seem to recognize this emulator. Normal products are recognized correctly.
The Bh560v2Config utility also does not recognize this emulator.

  • H.U.,

Indeed the probe seems defective. However, I imagine you tested different USB cables and different USB ports, right? Just to be absolutely sure, did you also try on a different host? The reason is that it is not uncommon for Windows to have some trouble enumerating a Debug Probe due to these minute details.

In case these tests do not change the outcome, I would declare the probe defective. Please proceed with the return process indicated in the help page of the TI estore at:

    https://www.ti.com/info-store/help/ti-store-order.html

    I apologize for the inconvenience,

    Rafael

Yes, I've done the tests you pointed out and the results have not changed. I will proceed with the returns process.
Thank you very much for your response.

  • Hi Rafael,

Do I need to return the emulator that is initially defective to you? or can I dispose of it?
Please let me know the return address if you need it.

  • H.U.,

I have the impression that a return under warranty should have the procedure to return it to us for failure analysis.

If that is not the case, then I would certainly like to look at it if possible. Please accept my friend request so I can share my company address.

    Thank you,

    Rafael

  • Hi Rafael,

    Thank you for your reply.

This is a failure under warranty.
I have accepted your friend request. I am waiting for you to provide information on where to send it.

    Best Regards,
    H.U
