OMAP5912: Difference between two versions

Part Number: OMAP5912

Hi Team,

In product page, there is no OMAP5912ZDY anymore but OMAP5912ZVL is active.
What is the difference between the two versions?

In addition, when I click the link of its datasheet it jumps to the link of "C6000 DSP + Arm processors"
where can I get the datasheet?

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • The ZVL package is a replacement for the ZZG package. Details can be found here.

I'm checking to see what happened to the ZDY orderable.

  • Hi Paul,

I think the link you send to me is broken.
There are too many versions so my customer want to know the difference between ZDY and ZVL.

  • The difference is the package.

The ZDY is a 17x17 BGA (19x19mm). Details are in the datasheet

The ZVL is a 21x21 BGA (12x12mm). Details are in the OMAP59xx MicroStar BGA Discontinued and Redesigned document

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for your reply. Can I please confirm a couple of other questions:
    1. OMAP5912ZDY whilst it is NRND, can it still be purchased?
    2. If it can still be purchased, do you have an expected last time buy date planned?
    3. OMAP5912ZVL other than being in a different package/footprint is it otherwise equivalent to the ZDY part and will therefore not require any software changes if we were to layout the PCB to accommodate the ZVL part?
    4. Should my customer continue to use ZDY or should they switch to ZVL?

    OMAP5912ZDY can still be ordered

I am not aware of any plan to end availability.

The functionality of the silicon is the same. I did a quick check of the pin maps and both utilize 289 pins which suggests all the same pin functions are available. If planning to change to the new package, a more thorough check should be done.

Given that the ZDY package is NOT EOL, unless there is another reason to update the PCB design, I see no reason to switch to the ZVL package
