TMS320C6414: EMIF drive strength

Part Number: TMS320C6414

Hi,

I got a question for EMIF drive strength.
Customer is planning to connect memory which total load is max.~14pF.

Can address (AEAxx) and clock AECLKOUT1 pin drive such load?
It seems no drive strength or max. driving load listed in Datasheet.

Thanks and regards,

  • Tashiro-san,

Are you asking about 6414 or 6414T.  The latter was a die shrink in a smaller process node and the drive strength is significantly different between these devices.

Load capacitance on the EMIF affects rise/fall time.  The more capacitance, the more delay in reaching the final levels.  You will need to use IBIS modeling to reach a final answer.  Since the 6416 is rated to drive 16ma on the EMIF buffers, it should have no problem driving this load.  Similarly, the 6414T has 8ma buffers on the EMIF pins so it should also be able to drive this load.

  • Hi Tom,

    Thanks for your quick reply.
The question is for 6416. So buffer drive strength should not be an issue.

Customer will try IBIS simulation at layout design phase.

    Thanks and regards,
