AM3359: Change Ethercat Master to Slave

Part Number: AM3359
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83848I, SYSCONFIG

Hello,

we have a custom board which contains a AM3359ZCZ and two Ethernet DP83848I Phyter (and some other parts).

The network interfaces are used for a Webserver and a Ethercat Master function (implemented with an older sdk (05.05.01.00).

For this both Pyhters are connected via RMII.

For another application we need to change the Ethercat Master to Slave function.

Our Board allows us to exchange the second phyter’s interface to MII. (via resistor changes)

So the idea is to use the second phyter as Ethercat slave with only one Ethercat port (as last device in a chain).

Is this generally possible?

From sysconfig tool it seems to be possible to configure the ports to RMII and MII_PRUSS1.

I think this looks good, but there is one thing which is not clear for me:

There is also Interface called ECAT_PRUSS1 in sysconfig tool which only has latch and data pins and I have no idea if and
how I should connect this. I suppose this is the “Industrial Ethernet Peripheral”(IEP) of the PRU.

What signals must be connected to this interface?

Are there other topics we have to take in mind?

best regards
