PINMUXTOOL: TI PinMux GUI doesn't allow re-ordering pins and sorting

Part Number: PINMUXTOOL

Feature request. We use the C2000 F28379D chip which has 169 possible GPIOs, all of which we are currently mapping using the TI Pinmux tool. It becomes quite the hassle to scroll through over 100 pins to try to find the one we want. There should be a way in the GUI to easily sort the pin list in the "Requirements" tab (alphabetically, last modified, etc.), as well as being able to manually order them without having to manually modify the TI Pinmux XML file (e.g. have a hamburger icon next to each pin and we can drag them up and down on the list if we want). It becomes a hassle when we add a pin and it automatically defaults to the bottom of the list even though we want to see it further up in a place that makes sense with our pin naming conventions.

  • Hi Nigel,

We agree the current representation is not ideal for long lists of configurables like GPIO.  We have a feature in our backlog to allow some types of configurables (like GPIO) to be represented in a table. The table would allow sorting and possibly filtering.  The first crack at this feature would not include manual ordering of table elements however.  I can't give you a date for when this will appear in a tool version but it is a usability issue we also feel needs to be addressed.  Thank you for submitting the request here as it helps prioritize the feature backlog.
