BEAGLEBK: Beaglebone Black flashing initial images to the device using Windows 10

Part Number: BEAGLEBK

Hi all,

This is related to the question I asked a while ago: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/769308

We still face the same problem of not being able to flash the initial images using Windows 10. I have asked Microsoft technical support about this. After one and a half of years of troubleshooting, Microsoft was unable to solve this. According to Microsoft, the independent hardware vendor (TI, in this case) needs to provide the correct .ini file for Windows 10 to load the correct driver.

Questions:

1. Has TI been able to get this working on Windows 10? We need a production solution for this. What is TI's solution on this for Windows 10?

2. I heard there is a TI version of Beaglebone Black (TIDA-01568). I assume it is the same processor as Beaglebone Black. I wonder what is the solution of flashing the initial programs for TIDA-01568?

Thank you.

  • Hi Matt,

Sorry to hear your issue is still not solved. The AM335x USB-Ethernet function was originally validated on LInux and Windows 7, while a customized .inf driver file wasn't required by Windows 7. We don't plan to provide support for Windows 10 if the solution is to write a .inf driver file.

The TIDA-01568 should have the same AM335x processor as that on Beaglebone Black, but I am not sure how its emmc is flashed. It could be either flashed prior mounting on the board, or flashed with Linux host.

I assume your custom board doesn't have sdcard slot or CPSW Ethernet port, so USB-Ethernet is the only option, then is it possible to use Linux host instead of Windows 10?

  • Hi Bin,

Thank you for the message. I have discussed this issue with our manufacturing team. We have determined the alternative solution. Although not ideal, we decided to go with Windows 7.

Please close this question. I will raise questions should issues arise. Thanks again.

  • Hi Matt,

Glad to hear Windows 7 is acceptable for you. Thanks for the update.
