Processor to pair with ADS7865 capable to perform DSP operations on stored signals

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7865, AMIC120

Hi Team,

We would like to get your help with the suggestion to our customer for a processor that is capable to perform DSP operations on stored signals?

The customer application is sensor signal sampling where multiple sensors are present. Atleast 6 sensors signals to be sampled simultaneously and stored. I need suggestions on ADC (ADS7865) which can support the same as well as processor to which it can be interfaced which has required drivers for interfacing.

There is a suggested ADC already and it is ADS7865. Do you have suggestions for Processor?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Jonathan,

It appears that ADS7865 needs to be connected to Processor using simple serial SPI interface which is generally available on most of the Sitara and DSP processors. Can you please indicate what kind of an application your customers design is targeting. Is it motor drive and control? We have several processors that we can recommend that may meet the requirement so it would be good to understand the performance and cost budget for the processor selection.

To help with the selection, you can also point the customer to the following document:

     Motor control and drives solutions

TI solutions scale from AM437x/AMIC120  (1Ghz A9) to newer AM64x which has 2.4 Ghz of 64 bit ARM performance with real time control integration with easy connect to C2000 DSP. At mid end of the performance, you can also look at AM571x and AM570x which has integrated ARM + DSP. All of the above devices have an integrated programmable industrial subsystem  which also has serial interface to connect to ADC as shown in the training video here:

    Hope this helps.
