AM3351: AM3351 Flash memory

Part Number: AM3351
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, , AMIC110

Please tell me.

I'm considering setting the SYSBOOT Configuration Pins to 01011b.

This is because I want to set SYSBOOT in the order of USB and Flash memmory(MMC0).

Is it possible to assign MMC0 to 4G Flash memory?

If MMC0 has 4G flash memory, can I write the image file as is with UniFLash or CCS UniFlash?

  • Hi,

The MMC controller on AM3351 doesn't have size limit, you should be able to use 4GB MMC memory. I am not sure about CCS Uniflash, but it is recommended to use alternative boot method to boot the system into Linux then partition and flash the image to MMC memory.

  • thank you for your answer.

I was worried that 4G Flash Memory could not be used for MMC0 because of the following description.

    > AM335x and AMIC110 Sitara™ Processors Technical Reference Manual
    >
    > 26.1.8.5.2 System Interconnection
    > Each interface has booting restrictions on which type of memory it supports: -
    > • MMC0 supports booting from the MMC/SD card cage and also supports booting from
    > eMMC/eSD/managed NAND memory devices with less than 4GB capacity.
    > • MMC1 supports booting from eMMC/eSD/managed NAND memory device with 4GB capacity or
    > greater.

  • This is not a limitation of the hardware. It is a limitation of the boot code implemented in the device ROM, which can not be changed.
