Iam trying to bring up the OMAP blaze board(ES 2.1 GP) with Gingerbread Android. But while booting the kernel iam repeatedly getting the below error and screen is not coming up.

Please let me know do i need to add something ?

Details of Board used:

OS Kernel: Linux® 2.6.35
Android: Gingerbread public project
L27.INC1.GB-ENG-1_OMAP4_GingerBread_ES2
Reference hardware platform: Blaze ES2.1-GP
Build Host OS: Ubuntu

Boot args:

setenv bootargs console=ttyO2,115200n8 mem=456M@0x80000000 mem=512M@0xA0000000 root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 rw rootdelay=2 init=/init  vram="10M" omapfb.vram="0:4M"
setenv bootcmd 'mmcinit 0; fatload mmc 0 0x80000000 uImage;bootm 80000000'

  • I have the same problem and would like to ask the original reporter to post the solution if he managed to find one.

  • Did you slove the problem?

  • Hello Srinivas,

I'm using Blaze Beta EP2.2 GP version. I'm also getting the same problem.

Kindly share in case you have solved the problem.

    Thanks

    Rajesh RV

  • I realize that this was posted awhile ago, but for anyone else's future reference ... First, I recommend that you move to our latest software release in order to take advantage of many bug fixes.  You can find the release notes here and take the latest: http://www.omappedia.com/wiki/Release_Notes#Blaze_Release_Notes

There are many reasons why you could get "untracked pid" errors, so please check the following:

    1. If you are booting from SD card instead of eMMC, make sure that you have made the necessary modifications to the init.rc and init.omap4430.rc files, as mentioned in the release notes:  http://www.omappedia.com/wiki/L27.G.5_OMAP4_GingerBread_Release_Notes#Bootargs

    2. Ensure that you are passing enough vram in the bootargs.  For example, try vram=32M omapfb.vram=0:16M.  Otherwise, you may see this message in your logcat:

E/FramebufferNativeWindow( 1198): couldn't open framebuffer HAL (No such device)

    3. Ensure that your Graphics version matches between the kernel and filesystem.  See the instructions here: http://omapedia.org/wiki/Android_How-tos#Verify_Kernel_GFX_Version   Otherwise, you may see this message in your logcat:

E/FramebufferNativeWindow( 1198): couldn't open framebuffer HAL (No such device)

    4. Ensure that your SOM (the small board that holds the OMAP chip) is secured properly to the Blaze.  Try unplugging and replugging it.  You may have a loose connection that is causing issues when trying to output to the display.

    5. Ensure that you have copied over the files from ti/proprietary-open/graphics when you created your filesystem, as described here: http://www.omappedia.com/wiki/L27.G.5_OMAP4_GingerBread_Release_Notes#Preparing_Android_binaries

    Regards,

    Gina
