TMS320DM8167: connecting an SD card via the SPI bus of the dm8167 processor

Part Number: TMS320DM8167

HI,

I have a motherboard 80136171 from an NVR with a tms320dm8167scyg processor. i want to put linux on sd card and connect it to spi bus. the ultimate goal is to get a NAS server.
what i learned:
1) the built-in spi flash has a capacity of 32MB and this is not enough.
2) MB does not have pin pins for connecting via sd card protocol.
3) I can choose the boot option by changing the position of the resistors on MB.
4) I can build kernel and u-boot loader for SD card. what i can't: 1) achieve boot from sd connected via the SPI bus, at least start u-boot. 2) I do not know which boot option to set I connect SD using the SPI protocol.
I build the kernel, bootloader and write to SD according to the instructions http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/ezsdk/5_05_02_00/exports/DM816x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf
