AM5708: Processor SDK for AM57xx based on Yocto "dunfell"

Part Number: AM5708

Hello,

if I am informed correctly, the current latest Processor SDK is still based on the Yocto branch "thud".
I also read a thread where there are plans to release a processor SDK based on Yocto "dunfell". Release date should be the end of the year 2020 if I am aware correctly.
Is this still valid that there is a processor SDK to come for dunfell ? If so, when will there be such a processor SDK available ?

Best regards,

Florian

  • Hi Florian,

the current latest Processor SDK is still based on the Yocto branch "thud".

This is a correct statement for AM57xx product line at this time (May-2021).

there are plans to release a processor SDK based on Yocto "dunfell"

No, we do not have plans to release AM57xx release based on dunfell.

  • Thanks for the information, looks like I misunterstood something. May I ask why ? AM5708 doesn´t look to be a too old chip from my point of view.
However, is it still possible though to run a 5.x kernel on a AM5708 chip ?
I don´t mean out of the box functionality but in general ?

  • Hi Florian,

The TI kernel tree already supports building the AM57xx Kernel with 5.4. In 2020, we couldn't get the SDK's out due to various reasons.

We are currently working on a plan to get an updated AM57xx release on ti.com for somewhere in 2021 but that will be with Kernel 5.10 and Yocto (gatesgarth). Plans still unconfirmed, we have some unofficial builds working just fine with 5.x - just to answer your first part of the question.

    Regards
