Compiler/TMDSIDK437X: Industrial Communication requires two PRU-ICSS Subsystems

Part Number: TMDSIDK437X

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Hi All,

I'm a Newbie with TI and CCS and have the EtherCAT slave example running on the IDK eval board.

Reading the features list of the platform it looks like the Industrial Protocol uses two (all) PRU ICSS,

so there is no PRU left for other "tasks". The IO-Link reference design (TIDA-010016) uses just one PRU.

Am I right with that?

Regards, Thomas

  • Thomas,

    AM437x has two PRU-ICSS and each PRU-ICSS includes two PRU cores. EtherCAT uses one PRU-ICSS (two PRU cores). And you can use another PRU-ICSS(two PRU cores) for other tasks.

    Regards,
    Garrett
