TMS320C6701: best Evaluation board and JTAG Emulator required for TMS320C6701 DSP?

Part Number: TMS320C6701

in our new application, we would like to use TMS320C6701-SP DSP.

But in the product folder of TMS320C6701, suggested development kit is with some other DSP.

What is the consequence if we use this Kit? Is there any Kit which has exactly the same DSP?

In the suggested JTAG probe http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU560V2STM-U, ,

It is written that, basic debugging is not supported for C67+ dsps. What it mean? Whether we can use the same debugger for debugging of C6701 DSP or not?

If not, can we know the correct JTAG probe for the same?

Also, can we know the ADA compiler support for the TMS320C6701 DSP?In that case , which JTAG probe, we need to use?

  • Hi Bibin,

The XDS560v2 System Trace JTAG is recommended for TMS320C6701. XDS560v2 supports c67x DSPs asTMS320C6701. For details refer to XDS560v2 product page:
    www.ti.com/.../TMDSEMU560V2STM-U
Probably you have read about some incompatibility with c67x+ DSP architecture but it has some differences with c67x. You can read about differences between c67x and c67x+ at:
    www.ti.com/.../spru733a.pdf
TI can not suggest you TMS320C6701 based reference board exactly but TMS320C6713 DSP Starter Kit (DSK) is similar. You can compare characteristics of TMS320C6701 and TMS320C6713B as referring to Table 1 and 2 in their datasheets:
    www.ti.com/.../tms320c6701.pdf
    www.ti.com/.../tms320c6713b.pdf
