Part Number: TMDXIDK5718

Hi Sir,

I am planning to use TMDXIDK5718 board from TI for my current project. But I need wireless connectivity support also such as wifi and / or BLE. So is there any other version of TMDXIDK5718 board with wireless support? My requirement is:

Evaluation board requirement :

  • Ability to support 1 camera (USB, MiPi, etc.)
  • USB port for debugging
  • WiFi/BT support for connections
  • LCD+Touch panel support close to HD quality
  • Ability to run videos on the device
  • Android OS support

processor requirement :

  • Android OS support
  • Need to support at a minimum 8GB flash/eMMC
  • Need to support at a minimum 512MB RAM
  • Ability to support 1 camera (USB, MiPi, etc.)
  • At least a dual core processor
  • Microphone / voice processing DSP support for voice integration
  • Speaker for voice integration / audio
  • USB port for debugging
  • WiFi/BT support for connections
  • LCD+Touch panel support close to HD quality
  • Either have a TEE or the ability to support an external secure micro

TMDXIDK5718 full fill all my above requirement except wireless connectivity support. Please suggest something

Thanks,

Abhijit

  • Hi,

The EVM which will probably suit your requirements better is the AM572x GP EVM: www.ti.com/.../TMDSEVM572X

    Hi Biser,
    Thanks for your reply.

We checked AM572xGP EVM link provided by you but in software field it does not listed Android support.
only linux and TI-RTOS is mentioned there.

But when on below link -
    www.ti.com/.../PROCESSOR-SDK-AM57X
it says AM57x supports Android also.

Please confirm is AM572xGP EVM also support Android ? and if yes then which Android version it support ?
because Android support is also one of our requirement.

    Thanks,
    Abhijit

    1. What is the product longevity of AM572x?

    2. In TMDSEVM572X, on which interface(SPI/UART/I2C) camera module is connected to LCD module?

    3. In TMDSEVM572X, on which interface(SPI/UART/I2C) WiLink module is connected to LCD module?

  • In reply to Abhijit Thorat:

    1. This is a new device, introduced in 2015. At present there are no plans to discontinue it in the foreseeable future.
    2. The camera module is configured over I2C5. Sensor data in input on VIN3.
    3. The WiLink moduel is configured overr I2C5. Data interface is MMC3 for WiFi and UART8 for BT.

For future reference, all the EVM design files are available on the product page I gave you in my previous post.

We want such product for our solution whose longevity is 10+ years.
  • In reply to Abhijit Thorat:

    Hi Biser,

    1. On security page of TI it is mentioned that AM572x comes with Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
In Android, Trusty is a secure Operating System (OS) that provides a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
Is Trusty included in Android package provided by TI? Can you please provide more information about this.

    2. AM572x introduced in 2015. So its already been 4 years. Can you please tell me what is the product longevity of AM572x in years?
  • In reply to Abhijit Thorat:

    Hello,

    thanks for considering our products.

There are 2 types of AM572x processors. One is the General Purpose Devices and other is the HS - High Security Devices. Details of the HS devices are not discussed in our public e2e, since it is covered by a NDA. it is recommended that you discuss this topic with the local TI sales office supporting your account/region.

SW that are included as part of our HS development kit as well as details of our HS development kit are only discussed under NDA.

Now, about the longevity, same comments from this post can be applied here: e2e.ti.com/.../538693

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
