SMV320C6727B-SP: Power-supply decoupling

Part Number: SMV320C6727B-SP

Section 4.7.2 of the datasheet recommends adding "large" tantalum or ceramic caps for DSP power and I/O power pins.

This is the same recommendation from the older commercial device.

Please provide a recommended max ESR for the combined "larger" capacitors. Space-rated tantalum capacitors might have ESR near 2 ohms and there is concern that this will be too high since the previous non space design certainly did not consider the higher ESR found in space rated tantalum capacitors.

  • Steve,

The best data to use is additional collateral that has been generated since the device was released.

The -SP datasheet does not have the collateral referenced within it.  I will put it in queue to get updated.

The app note of interest is the "Hardware Design Guide for KeyStone Devices"

This and many other technical application notes can be found in the technical documentation tab in the product folder.
