The sampling of the adc signal needs to be done using the pru core to load the pru_adc_sampling_bin.h firmware, is this firmware only for motors with idk or is it universally? If use a third-party encoder, such as Nikon, does ti have a similar pru demo for reference?

    Hi,

    The pru_adc_sampling_bin.h firmware was written specifically for the motor control demo application. This is a PRU firmware that controls the synchronization/triggering and data collection using the on-chip ADC. The Cortex-A9 core actually configures the on-chip ADC in the /examples/motor_control/control/foc/adc.c file of the Industrial Drives package.

    From my understanding, the Nikon encoder format is similar to the Tamagawa encoder format. The Industrial Drives package provides a Tamagawa diagnostic example in the /examples/tamagawa_diagnostic/ folder. The Tamagawa PRU firmware is located in the /interfaces/tamagawa_receiver/ directory of the Industrial Drives package.
