AM3359: PRU Ethernet PHY support

Now we plan to make a board to have two PRU ethernet port like official industry communication engine. And plan to run linux-rt with two PRU ethernet firmware on it. But cause the cost of PHY(TLK110), we plan to use maybe DP83848 of KSZ8081 to replace TLK110. Are these two PHYs compatible with PRU firmware or do we have a list of PHY models that compatible with PRU firmware?

    Hello Bin,

    For most scenarios, any PHY which supports standard Ethernet should work fine with PRU Ethernet (standard Ethernet, PROFINET, EthernetIP, etc).

    Some industrial ethernet protocols like EtherCAT require features like fast link drop detection - in that case, you would need a PHY that can be configured properly for the protocol, and that can connect LED_LINK or LED_SPEED to MDIO for fast link detection.
