TMDX654GPEVM: FPGA high speed interface

Part Number: TMDX654GPEVM

Hi all,

I need to develop programmable logic and interface it to the evaluation board TMDX654GPEVM. Does this board interface in a preferable manner to an external CPLD/FPGA? Are there high speed communication channels already implemented ?

Thank you in advance for your help!

F.L.

  • Hi F.L.

The AM654x SoC does include a GPMC interface which can be used as a general purpose parallel interface to a device such as an FPGA.  It can operate at fairly high speeds but you didn't specify how high speed your interface needs to be. For very high speed operation a PCIE operation could also be used to communicate with an FPGA. The  TMDX654GPEVM includes the data and command signals on the GPMC/HDMI interface connector allowing a GPMC connections using a multiplexed address/data bus.  It also has a one lane PCIE connector which could be used as a connection if SERDES speeds are needed.
