TMS320DM8168: Increasing NAND Flash capacity with DM8168

Hi,

I am using custom DM8168 Processor board.

What maximum size of NAND flash we can use for the same?

We want to use a NAND Flash of 8 Giga Bytes of memory for booting and storing information. Is it possible to use 8GB of NAND Flash? If YES, then how to use GPMC chip select in 8 bit or 16 bit mode?

If it is of 8 Giga Byte size, will it be connected in SLC or MLC ?

Hi Vector,

NAND memory is a block device and it's not directly addressable by the GPMC address pins. There is no limitation for NAND size. NAND addresses are transferred over the data lines.

But there are still restrictions. If you are planning to boot from NAND, you need to check DM816x TRM section 25.7.3 NAND

make sure also you are using the correct BCH ECC scheme. Please refer to below e2e threads for more info:
