AM6526: OSC1 use case

Hi,

The customer is now developing their own board with AM6526. They want to know the OSC1 use case.

According to Figure 5-799 in AM65x TRM, WKUP_OSC0 is used, not OSC1. Could you tell them what the OSC1 use case is ? They're wondering that some features use OSC1, because there is 24.576MHz crystal connected to OSC1 on AM654x IDK.

They’re thinking if both OSC1 and WKUP_OSC0 should be placed on their own board as well.

Hi,

OSC1 is an optional internal oscillator which sources reference clock. Provides reference clock to PLLs within MCU domain and MAIN domain. This high-frequency oscillator is used to provide audio clock frequencies to MCASPs.

Thank you for your answer. OK, I understood. If the customer doesn't use audio with MCASP, they don't need the OSC1 on their board. Correct ?
