AM3354: Startup time

Part Number: AM3354

Hi,

My customer is evaluating  AM3354 for Oven. they check with us about the startup time, need to less than 3 second,  is this possible to meet this through OS optimization.  also I want to know is there a close ref design for Oven based on TI processor?

  • Hi,

For startup time, which SDK are you using - Linux or RTOS?

As for oven reference design, I don't think we have something so specific. We have schematics for our EVM boards, links are available here: www.ti.com/.../design-development.html

  • Biser,

They are evaluating our device,  Is there a specific data about the startup time for both Linux and RTOS? I can feedback to my customer to see if can meet their requirement.

  • Hello,

Can you please get more specific details about what the goal of startup time would be? Turn on a GPIO? Display a picture to a LCD? Send an ethernet packet?

This will help us isolate what can be done.

    Thank you.

  • My first post have declaimed their  target startup time is less than 3 second. It is for oven, so should have a LCD and so far as I know, they are familiar with QT and plan to use QT for GUI.  Should have WiFi,  No ethernet . please suggest if 3S is possible for both Linux and RTOS. a rough estimate is OK, honestly, I don't have any experience on processor, just help my customer to check. thanks.

  • Hello,

Is this a cold boot startup requirement? Meaning, from the time the device is powered on for the first time until something happens. Or, can this be from a power suspend state, like suspend to RAM?

What is their bar for the device being on? Being able to push a button on the touchscreen? Or, just see an image.

This is all very customizable depending on the real needs of the system. Our published boot time to a minimal shell is just over 5 sec. I would think that this can be tuned to a specific system and goal to meet a timing of < 3 secs. If they want to use QT, I would focus on Linux.

I hope this is helpful to you.
