TMDSIDK574: Development board fails to boot with included Linux SDK SD card

Part Number: TMDSIDK574
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5748

We returned the original board that failed to boot (see https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/887175) and received a replacement.  The replacement also fails to boot, showing the following error message:

U-Boot SPL 2019.01-g8b90adfb16 (Jul 07 2019 - 01:06:00 +0000)
DRA762-GP ES1.0 ABZ package
Trying to boot from MMC1
no pinctrl state for default mode
no pinctrl state for default mode
Card did not respond to voltage select!
spl: mmc init failed with error: -95
SPL: failed to boot from all boot devices
### ERROR ### Please RESET the board ###

I'm using the included Linux SDK SD card.  The included Industrial SDK SD card seems to come up and allows board diagnostics to be run.

The board's silkscreen show "REV B", if that is relevant.

Is there anything else I can try, or did I receive two bad kits so far?

Thank you.

  • Hi Aron,

For our understanding can you click a picture where you see Rev B.
Also please find attached the u-boot.img & MLO which work well for my board.

    Boot log:

Also if you see the hang just wait for couple of minutes before you reset the board to try to boot again.
I Vaguely recollect that helps on some boards.

  • Here is a photo of my board.  I will try to use the u-boot file that you attached.  Thanks.

    Aron

  • Hi Keerthy,

Using your attached u-boot.img and MLO I get the following result:

    U-Boot SPL 2019.01-ga141f7abfd (Jan 05 2020 - 10:23:38 +0000)
    DRA762-GP ES1.0 ABZ package
no pinctrl state for default mode
Card did not respond to voltage select!
    Firmware loading failed
    Trying to boot from MMC1
no pinctrl state for default mode
Card did not respond to voltage select!
spl: mmc init failed with error: -95
SPL: failed to boot from all boot devices
    ### ERROR ### Please RESET the board ###

I also let the board warm up before resetting as you suggested but that didn't affect the result.

It appears this replacement board has the same or similar failure mode as our original.

    Aron

  • HI Aron,

That seems to be the case. I will let Mike take over on how to get you working Rev C boards.
Regret the inconvenience for the second time.

    Regards,
    Keerthy

  • Hi Aron,

I sent you a friend request to contact you offline - please accept and we can resolve this.
