How to measure on-die temperature on TDA4?

  • PSDKRA 7.0 onward support for reading temperature has been added.

By default 6.02 PSDKRA does not support temperature measurements on for TDA4.
Additional steps need to be followed:

Steps to include the patch to csl directory:
    cd psdk_rtos_auto_j7_06_02_00_21/pdk/packages/ti/csl

    git init
    git add .
    git commit

The above will prepare an initial git repository with the release csl folder.

    On top of that:
    git am 0001-VTM-Support-patch.patch
    1452.0001-VTM-Support-patch.patch

That gets the code on csl folder.

Steps common to PSDKRA 7.0 & PSDKRA 6.02:

Building the vtm example to read temp:
    cd psdk_rtos_auto_j7_06_02_00_21/pdk/packages/ti/build
    make csl_vtm_pvt_sensor_read

    This will generate: psdk_rtos_auto_j7_06_02_00_21/pdk/packages/ti/binary/csl_vtm_pvt_sensor_read/bin/j721e_evm/csl_vtm_pvt_sensor_read_mcu1_0_release.xer5f
One can use CCS to load the xer5f file on mcu1_0. The application reads the temperature of all the 5 sensors & dumps it on mcu_uart.

    Sample output attached "rtos-vtm-output-csl-tem-read".

    Example code:
