EVMK2GX: EVMK2GX

Part Number: EVMK2GX

Not able to connect with USB XDC 200:IcePick_D: Error initializing emulator: (Error -2083 @ 0x0) Unable to communicate with the debug probe.

Board was unpacked and verified functions.
Connector was connected to a) XDS200 and b)USB TO SOC UART0
Connector for supply connected
Programming through USB XDS 200 on board was working without troubles - programmed only demo in SDK
After weekend we were not able to connect with USB XDC 200:IcePick_D: Error initializing emulator: (Error -2083 @ 0x0) Unable to communicate with the debug probe. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 9.1.0.00001)
All the other work places with this board worked without trouble.
New setting Target configuration
tested on the second work place > always using CCS10
Proccesor 66AKG is working, not function is only XDC 200 on board connection
Result still same. Cannot connect with debug probe

In the guide, there is for TI RTOS 06.03.00.106 at the end of chapter 10.3.4:
software-dl.ti.com/.../index_how_to_guides.html
described situation  of HW destruction of emulator and it is reccomend to update FW and also update of HW. It is strange we did not find this information for evaluation kit, but only found it for TI RTOS. For review, we have modules revision A (it is already D revision)
We did not perform and HW modification. We still perform action as always. And all other evaluation kits are working without any trouble.
**The RevB and RevC boards are using an earlier version of the XDS200 firmware. We have observed the following issues when hooking up the internal XDS200 USB debug probe to a host machine.
XDS200 Emulator USB cable need to be re-plugged every time board is power cycled/reset to avoid leakage on power supply VCC1V8_XDS which can damage the regulator or other ICs.

  • Hi, Marek,

I'll have the DSP expert to help you but just glanced through your post, you connected the USB to UART port. That port is for console. You may want to connect to the USB port marked "XDS200 USB" next to Audio in connector, and give it another try. Please see the EVMK2G TRM:

  • Marek,

I am not really sure at the moment, what caused the debug connection to report the issue. If the onboard debug connector is not working, do you have an external emulator that can be used to try to see if you can connect to the board.

To check if only the debug circuitry is bad, you may also want to check booting the board with the SD card and see if the device is booting snd the issues is limited to the debug port. Also, please indicate if the power supply you are using meets the spec and if all the jumpers on the board are in their default position as in case when the board was working correctly.

If there is a defect detected on the board, we may need to provide you details of RMR process so that your board can be sent back to the board manufacturer but let us try to understand the full scale of the issue and if there is any short term solution for you to check the board out.

    Regards,

    Rahul

  • Dear,

we have about six workplaces and 2 of them used same KIT EVMK2G. The thing is, that when we took off the defected one and changed for working one, everything works well. When we want to perform action again on the defective one, we get same problém. Not working. So we really do have not working KIT due to described situation.

    Thank you.

  • Dear,

many thanks for note, but this is not the case.

Programming through USB XDS 200 - not working..

    Thank you.

  • Marek,

Does the host even detect the USB connection to the JTAG port. did you try to upgrade the XDS200 firmware on the board ?

    http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AADzJ8Y-La4f7Bi5Ga0TcA__FUz-xrs__LATEST

Is there any sort of error code in JTAG tests. Did you check the power supply or any sign of component damage around the debug circuitry. Is the other working board also using the same power supply and connected to the same host.

How was the EVM purchased directly from TI , distributor. Please write to support@ti.com with the E2e link and we can try to see if we can start a RMA process for the EVM.

    Regards,

    Rahul
