AM4379: The issue of using resistors on DDR connection sheet

Part Number: AM4379

Hello.

I am creating a schematic of my device. As a basic connection for AM4379, I am using <AM437X Industrial EVM> board as example. There is a resistor block on the memory connection sheet. Why is it needed? What role do they play? I have seen examples of implementation where these resistors are not.

  • Those resistors terminate the addr/cmd bus to the VTT termination voltage to provide better signal integrity.  They may or may not be needed based on your board design.  It is possible to have good signal integrity without VTT termination, but it is advised that you perform signal integrity analysis with your design to ensure this.

Be sure to follow the routing guidelines throughout section 5.12.8.2.1 of the datasheet to ensure proper design methodologies are followed

    Regards,

    James
