66AK2G12: NAND support through GPMC

Part Number: 66AK2G12

Hi,

It is mentioned in the Errata of the processor that the NAND memory is not supported in Silicon Revision 1.0

What is the current revision going on now ? Does the NAND memory is supported in the latest revision ?

If it is not supported in the future, can you remove the NAND support completely from the datasheet (Fig 7-161 in TRM) instead of misleading the users.

Thanks and regards,

Sivakumar.

  • Hi Sivakumar,

I just checked and the answer is, you cannot use NAND flash on the GPMC. The IP is non-functional in rev 1.0 silicon which prevents it from being used. Rev 1.0 silicon is the only revision we’ve done and the information I’ve seen suggests we’re not planning a new revision. This means you will have to choose another method to boot from and to store your filesystem. The best alternative is eMMC, it’s basically the same as NAND but managed, you won’t have to worry about the ECC scheme used which is always a hassle with NAND flash.

    Thanks
