DRA829V: AVS Configuration

Part Number: DRA829V

According to the data manual Section 5.4  Recommended Operating Conditions, only VDD_CPU supports AVS.  Furthermore there appears to be only a single operating point (OPP) supported.  The DM mentions to look at the VTM_DEVINFO_VDn registers in the TRM.  (Side note, the name is slightly different in the TRM, it is WKUP_VTM_VD_DEVINFO_j.)

Looking at the TRM, I don't understand the register mapping. The TRM mentions that the AVS voltage is programmed in the WKUP_VTM_VD_OPPVID_j register.  It looks to me like we need to use both of these registers:

  • WKUP_VTM_VD_DEVINFO_j
  • WKUP_VTM_VD_OPPVID_j

There 8 instances of each of these two registers, i.e. j=0 to 7.  Furthermore, the WKUP_VTM_VD_OPPVID_j  register contains 4 bitfields: OPP_0/1/2/3.

Which rails map to which registers, and which of the 4 OPP's maps to the single OPP mentioned in the DM?

  • Brad,

I'll file a ticket to get this cleaned up.

This is partly addressed in the TRM section "VTM VID Voltage Domains":

I don't see an obvious answer on which OPP maps to essentially OPP_NOM but I would guess it's OPP_0.

Note that units shipping today in preproduction are setting the default 0.8V, so AVS shouldn't be a big concern for PCB bringup in the near future.

    Regards,

    Kyle
