DAC38RF82: Clarification on Power level output

Part Number: DAC38RF82

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer have the following inquiries:

"In DAC38RF82 datasheet, the output power level vs frequency is given as Graphical plot (attached), In that , as the frequency increases power level decreases. But In Datasheet, under section 8.3.29 DAC Transfer Function (Page no.64), it mentioned that at fullscale output current, the power level is 7 dbm (assuming no losses).

Kindly elaborate the same and provide us Power level @ 4GHz output."

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Hi Art,

The output power at 4GHz should be around -1.5dBm. There are couple of reason for lower power level.

    1. The SINC response of the DAC cause the output amplitude get lower as you go higher in frequency.

    2. The return loss of DAC is worse at higher frequency as a result the output power coming out of the DAC is lower at higher frequency.
