AFE7700: RFIC's capabilities

Hi Experts,

Good day.

Client is looking for technical support with regards to AFE7700 the RFIC's capabilities.

Can the 4x RF channels of the AFE7700 be operated in phase coherent mode, that is, a single LO that drives the up/down RF conversion? and the same question applies for AFE7444, or any other TI RFIC chip we're not aware of, that is, 4 RF channels that are phase coherent, single local oscillator that drives up/down RF conversion.

Thank you for your guidance.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

AFE7700 can be configured such that single LO drive the up/down conversion of all 4 receive and transmit channels. AFE7444 uses direct RF sampling architecture. In AFE7444, a common sampling clock can be used for all transmitters and a divided version of that can be used for all receive channels. Both of these devices support multi-channel phase synchronization.

AFE7900 and AFE7950 are latest and best devices from TI in this family. I suggest these devices for all new projects. You can request access for full datasheet of any of these devices in respective web pages.

    Regards,
