AFE7950: Power estimation tool?

Part Number: AFE7950

Hi,

I checked the documnet explaining power solution for 2x/1x AFE79xx. The total power consumption was about 24W according to document while maximum power consumption was about 10W in chapter 7.9 of datasheet.

I understand that 24W is worst case + margine, but the difference 14W is quite big to calculate total power consumption of custome board because there will be multiple afe7950s.

It will be very helpful if I can estimate power consumption for my application. Is there a power estimation tool for afe7950?

Regards,

  • Hi Yoonsun,

Total current on each voltage rail can be read using latte GUI with EVM configured in the mode you want to use. This gives the best estimate for your use-case.

To read power, you can navigate to Interactive GUI window, go to last tab named 'PowerMeas' and click get 'getPower' button.

This tab also shows design max current limits of each rail. I calculated the power based on max for each rail and it's about 14W which is reasonable.

    Regards,

    Vijay
