LMX8410L: Registers used by TICS Pro not described in documentation

Part Number: LMX8410L
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594,

Hello,

1. I use TICS Pro v1.7.5.4. In the software I can change registers R115 and R96 (GUI: LO Quadrature Path) but they are not described in documentation. Could you provide additional information about these registers?

2. The R6 (INIT 2) register has value 0x060000 (not 0x060100). Is that correct? What should I trust: TICS Pro or documentation?

3. I would like to directly control the VCO (like in LMX2594 with VCO_SEL_FORCE register). Is this possible to use those registers in LMX8410L?

Regards
Jedrzej

  • Hi Jedrzej,

R96 top three bits set the LO I/Q generator current when using polyphase filter (when VCO < 2 * LO) or divider-based (when VCO >= 2 * LO). The different circuits require slightly different biasing. R115 selects polyphase or divider mode.

R6(INIT2) should be 0x06 0100, both datasheet and TICS Pro are correct.

I think full assist is also doable in LMX8410, if you have a board, please try it. The address of those registers should be same as LMX2594.
