an IC that can receive both Amplitude-Shift Keying (ASK) and Frequency-Shift Keying (FSK) modulated signals on the same hardware and software platform

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1121

Dear TI Technical Support,

I am writing to inquire about selecting a suitable 433 MHz RF receiver IC for our application. We require an IC that can receive both Amplitude-Shift Keying (ASK) and Frequency-Shift Keying (FSK) modulated signals on the same hardware and software platform. We want a single IC to receive communications from both remote keyless entry (RKE) and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) with the same hardware and software. We know that our TPMS sensor sends FSK modulated signals and RKE key fobs typically transmit amplitude-shift keying (ASK) modulated signal.

Most UHF receiver ICs we have encountered require register adjustments to switch between ASK and FSK modes. This poses a significant challenge for our application as we cannot predetermine the type of incoming signal (ASK or FSK).

Application Details:

Target Frequency: 433 MHz

Modulation Schemes: ASK (RKE key fobs) and FSK (TPMS sensors)

Dynamic Switching: Automatic switching between ASK and FSK modes without manual register configuration changes is crucial due to the unpredictable nature of signal arrival.

Request:

We kindly request your recommendation for suitable RF receiver/transceiver part numbers that can meet our specific requirements.

Any additional technical details or considerations for our application would be highly appreciated.

We are open to exploring alternative solutions, including potential workarounds, if achieving automatic switching within a single IC proves challenging.

Thank you for your time and assistance. We eagerly await your response.

Sincerely,

  • Hi,

Please take a look at the CC1121 that is a transceiver that can handle both ASK and FSK. All the registers are available so there is more flexibility for you to tune between a ASK / FSK switch mode but this you will have to implement yourself since this is not a standard PHY option.
