AFE7950-SP: AFE7950 Absolute maximum input power

Part Number: AFE7950-SP

Tool/software:

Hello

The datasheet states that the absolute maximum voltage at any of the Rx inputs is 1.8V+0.3V.

The internal DC bias of the device is 1.8V.

From this I conclude that the maximum Sine wave Vpp is 0.6V.

This is equivalent to an input power of ~2.5dBm (for 100Ohms).

How does the above correspond with the maximum FS_CW stated in the following table?

What am I missing?

Regards,

Itai

  • Hi Itai,

I think there might be some confusion. The spec listed in the absolute maximum ratings refers to the following:

“Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Rating may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended Operating Condition. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.”

While the max FS_CW is the full-scale power, meaning how much power does a CW tone need to hit the full scale at each of the conditions.

Let me know if this is still unclear.

    Best,

    Camilo
