AFE20408EVM: GUI load failure

Part Number: AFE20408EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE20408

Tool/software:

We have a "plain vanilla" laptop which we have installed the software intended to drive the board.

The computer is running windows 10 pro, and has been updated to version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

The machine is a Latitude 5429 rugged

The point of failure screen just shows the loading splash with the words "Loading Main.vi..."  in the lower left corner

The program AFE20408EVM GUI is using 54.8MB of ram

The question is, why is this program stalled?

  • Hi Derek,

When the AFE20408EVM starts running, this screen should pop up alongside the splash screen. The splash screen will not progress until this screen is configured. There's potential that the screen is somewhere weird on your screen. Also note, if you exit out of the Config Settings screen instead of pressing the "config" button, the program will stall and you will have to force shut it down.

    Thanks,
    Erin

  • interesting...    I'm not getting the other window, checking the Taskbar there's no evidence there of another window, alt-tab doesn't show anything.  I do have the board plugged in via USB

Holding the mouse over the black splash window just shows the spinning circle, it's clearly waiting..   any way to force the config screen to show itself?

  • Hi Derek,

Try running the GUI without the board being plugged in. Alt tab won't show the interface screen, unfortunately, as it's read as part of the AFE20408 GUI. Clicking on the splash page would ideally bring the interface settings to the front.

If you run the program without the board plugged in there's a chance the VI will skip the interface settings and run in demo mode.

    Thanks,
    Erin
