TRF370417: OIP3 vs LO power

Hello

Couldn't find graph on the data sheet displaying OIP3 vs LO power.  Do you have this data?

Also, I've noticed that the LO input is specified for LO power range -5dBm to +12dBm, but all of the characterization was done at +4dBm  or +8dBm.

I need to work in LO range of 0 to 4dBm.

What type of  performance change do I need to expect?

Thanks

  • Yes, it looks like the OIP3 vs Frequency and LO power is "missing".  You can check out that plot in the TRF370317 in figure 10.  The performance will be similar and it shows that there is minimal difference to the OIP3 performance with respect to LO.

For the TRF370417, as you push towards operation to 6 GHz, I generally recommend operating at a higher LO drive level.  In your case, if 4 dBm is the max available then I would shoot for that.  Noise floor drops a bit with higher LO drive.  OIP3 is a bit better at higher frequencies with higher LO drive.  There is some trade-off between carrier suppression and sideband suppression with LO drive.  4 dBm is about an optimum point.
