DAC38RF80: DAC38RF80: single link driving both DAC channels.

Part Number: DAC38RF80

Hello,

For the DAC38RF80, can I use one JESD204B link to drive the both Multi-band DUC Channels with the same I/Q data.   Multi-band DUC Channel 1 will drive DAC A, and Multi-band DUC Channel 2 will drive DAC B.   The channels will be configured with the same interpolation rates, but will have different NCO settings.

thanks,

Scott

  • Hi Scott,

The DAC38RF80's multi-band duc channels both have a JESDRX block and you are able to program them such that they are used as a single link. Section 8.3.8 in the datasheet goes over the settings for this configuration.

  • Hi David.

I did see the single link feature in the datasheet.   However, it wasn't clear if the JESDRX blocks of each multi-band DUC channel can use the same physical Rx lanes.    To clarify, I'm asking if a single link consisting 1 IQ pair can be routed to both multi-band DUC channels.

    Thanks.

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

It is possible to use the same physical Rx lanes for both JESDRX blocks. To do this you would have to modify the JESD_CROSSBAR1, JESD_CROSSBAR2, and the JESD_LN_EN registers for channel B so that they match the registers for channel A. Changing these registers allows you to choose which serdes lanes the multi-DUC will take data from and enable the correct lanes, as mentioned in section 8.3.8 in the datasheet.
