Certfication Process

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843

Hello,
my question is about the certification process of a new product where an IWR1843 could be implemented. So, my team and I have been studying radar systems and for now, we are deciding about an IR-UWB radar (between the commercial unlicensed FFC band) or one of your TI mmWave sensors. For a lot of reasons we prefer to implement yours, however, we never work with RF components and therefore we would like to know more about the certification of these products. Concerning your "TI mmWave Radar Device Regulatory Compliance Guide" we should prepare our device for a compliance test, but is the same procedure necessary for a UWB system inside the unlicensed FCC band ( 3-10 GHz)?
What radar will bring us more problems in terms of product certification? How much time-expensive is the certification of a TI mmWave radar product?
Thanks in advance.

  • Hello

TI's mmWave sensors are configurable and  users can set the RF device parameters to comply with  regulation needs.  The Compliance document we provide shows how to configure the device with examples, what specific values should it be configure to  is upto the user.

Usually the regulations are specific to  frequency bands so irrespective of the application you will have to comply with what the frequency specific needs of transmission.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav
