AFE8221-Q1: Professional FM analog receiver with low distortion and digital BW.

Part Number: AFE8221-Q1

Hi,

I need technical support for IC´s AFE8221, or AFE8220, or   AFEDRI8201, is possible to use in IF block with BW for 200KHZ and 250KHZ in receiver FM broadcast application and DSP interface example for FM demodulator with DSP or other component for FM demodulator use, my THD maximum is 0.05% for 20HZ to 53KHZ.

Thanks

Fabio

  • Yes, I think you can use the AFE822x for this purpose.  The digital filters are programmable as outlined in the datasheet.  I am not sure how to translate to THD spec, but the published SNR is around 90 dBc and the the published SFDR is 96 dBc.

  • Hello RJ Hopper,

Thank you very much for technical support!

Please, do you have an application manual for AFE8220 or AFE8221? And any example using a DSP or FPGA to do FM demodulation of the audio?

    Regards,

    Fabio

  • Sinteck:

Unfortunately there is not much additional documentation or application information other than the datasheet for this device family.  I do not have an example with DSP or FPGA.  If you identify a TI DSP that is of interest, you can reply back through the forum for support on that DSP.  I think those application engineers will be able to assist further applying their device to the AFE82xx.
