HDC1080: HDC1080 temperature calibration & design problem

Part Number: HDC1080
We used the HDC1080 in a sensing temperature and humidity project, in a 25C degree test environment.
There is a same gap between the temperature detected by several of our engineering samples and another certified thermometer.
As the time of operation increases, the temperature measured by the HDC1080 also rises, but the temperature measured by the standard thermometer is unchanged.

What kind of calibration do I have to make? Or what hardware design has to be noticed? Thanks!
  • Hi Morgan,
Can you clarify the HW platform you are using for these measurements? HDC1080 EVM or your own board?
What could happen as time of operation increases could be two things:
    1. Self heating of the HDC1080 device. This could happen is the sampling rate is high, if that is the case change it to 1Hz.
    2. Not enough thermal isolation from other "hot" components placed close to the HDC1080 device. The EVM has this problem and that is why we recommend to separate the breakout section until a new rev is released in the near future. Please find slide below:
