HDC2010: HDC2010 Temp and Humidity sensing Accuracy

Part Number: HDC2010

Dear ,

Would you have any data about the Temp and Humidity output data consistency between chip-and-chip?

We found out that there have 8%RH delta between 2pcs HDC2010 humidity data output. They are placed in the same location, no casing, direct sensing the environment.

  • Hi Henry,
As you may know the max RH accuracy listed in the data sheet is +/-3%. Therefore a delta of 8% is showing one of the parts is violating the spec.

There are various reasons for RH offset beyond the 3%, some of them listed on page 5 of the data sheet - foot note (11):
"Recommended humidity operating range is 20 to 80% RH (non-condensing) over 0 to 60°C. Prolonged operation beyond these ranges
may result in a shift of sensor reading, with slow recovery time"

There are also others listed on foot note (12), same page
"Drift due to aging effects at typical conditions (30°C and 20% to 50% RH). This value may be impacted by dust, vaporized solvents,
outgassing tapes, adhesives, packaging materials, etc."

Please be sure you read the app note listed below. It explains the proper guidelines for storage and manipulation of Humidity sensors.

  • Dear Jose,

Thanks for your explain. So, if the Humidity is out of range (20% ~ 80%), what is the max. delta for the RH%? Your Spec is no such kind of data to reference.

  • Hi Henry,

The actual max delta can't be quoted since will depend on various factors such as the the Temp reached (>80C) and the time of exposure. Also if the sensor is exposed to condensation the RH value may be quite high but the sensor should recover its accuracy after exposure to normal conditions for some time that could be few hours.
