    Hello Henry,

    As described on the HDC2010 data sheet the heater is is used to dry the humidity sensor when it's expose to condensing conditions (water in liquid form). The amount of time will depends on the level of condensation that can be monitored reading humidity levels.
    When the RH is high (>90% --100%) enable the heater and once it recovers to the levels expected (e.g. <80%) turn it off.

    It's ultimately a system implementation between the host and the sensor.
