Hello
I have a customer who wants to evaluate the IWR1443 for a Water Level sensing project and TIDEP-0091 looks to provide much of what they are looking to achieve.

For initial evaluation they would like to use the OOB demo and mmWave Visualiser, so could you advise on settings or provide a config file to achieve something similar to TIDEP-0091.

If this looks OK we can then go ahead and program eval boards with this TI-Design software.

Hi Bob,

I have attached a Sensing estimator snapshot and the corresponding .json file which you can load in the sensing estimator using the "Load Config" button. You will need to generate a profile_cfg for the OOB demo by modifying one of the the existing OOB Demo configs (C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_01_00_00_05\packages\ti\demo\xwr14xx\mmw\profiles\profile_2d.cfg) using the values from the sensing estimator. I had to rename the .json to .txt as the forum doesn't allow attaching .json files.

Please note the special considerations given below:

Maximum velocity (km/h)

Please note that this parameter is not important for Level Sensing applications, however a value is needed by the mmWave Sensing Estimator to generate the desired chirp configuration.

Special Considerations:

In the level sensing design, the radar sensor takes a single chirp based range measurement every time it is powered up by the external micro controller. As there is no concept of Velocity measurement in this application, the number of Chirp Loops parameter is ignored and set to 2 (for ping-pong ADC buffer operation) irrespective of the value generated by the Sensing Estimator.
The Chirp Configuration used in TI's Power Optimization for IWR1443 77GHz-Level Transmitter Reference Design assumes a fixed sampling rate of 7.5 Msps whereas the Sensing Estimator calculates the minimum required sampling rate based on the maximum beat frequency. Because of this, the chirp configuration presented here does not exactly match the one used in the TI Design but it provides the same range and range resolution.

As it happens I am just working on this now and looking at the training videos.

How do I take the chirp design values from the Sensing Estimator and load them into my demo ?
Looks like I need to build something using the mmWave SDK but I haven't figured it out yet.

If you have any pointers that would save me some time that would be great.

We don't have a tool to convert the Sensing Estimator outputs to equivalent mmWaveLink API / OOB Demo CLI calls. Please refer to the following thread as well for important considerations related to Sensing estimator output and SDK Demo CLI config.
