AWR1642: about setting the chirps of the frame

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-DFP

Dear engineer:

I encount a problem about how to start  the different frames. There are three kinds of frames  to be set.And these frames are excuted  in loop.I want to ask  how to start the next frame when one frame is completed and how to restart the frames when three frames are completed. If I need set 0 to the number of frames (valid range is 0 to 65535, 0means infinite).  Otherwise I want to know What  the effect of the frame period is when the frame is started.please help me interpret .

 Thank you !

  • Hello ,

Are you referring to different chirps in a frame or different frames altogether?

    BR,

  • in the different frames.how to start the three different frames in sequence. Can you give me an example?
  • Hello,

The AWR1642 supports Advanced Frame Configuration that can be for your purpose of sending 3 different frames in a sequence.

You will need to configure different SUB-FRAME using the advanced frame configuration sub-block.

Please refer to Section "5.4.6 Sub block 0x0105 – AR_ADVANCED_FRAME_CONF_SB" in the "AWR1xx_Radar_Interface_Control.pdf" which is available in the MMWAVE-DFP for the message description .

    Regards,
    Raghu

  • Thank you .And I want to know what the effect of the frame period is.
  • Hello ,

When using the Advanced frame configuration the frame is formed by putting together the sub-frames. the frame period is equal to the summation of periodicity of the configured sub-frames.

There are timing requirements when using the advanced frame configuration wrt to the inter-burst frame, inter-subframe time and inter frame.

Please refer to "Section 6 Advanced Chirp Configurations" in Programming Chirp Parameters in TI Radar Devices for details about advanced frame configurations and key care about wrt to timing requirements.

    Thanks,

    Raghu
