Hi,
In the DSS demo, before Azimuth FFT,2D FFT is processed. According to the theory of angle estimation,I think only 1D FFT is needed,I want to ask why 2D FFT is used in the algrothm.
Thanks in advances,
Regards,
Rata.

Hi Rata,
The reason we do a 2D DFT operation before the azimuth FFT is because performing a '2D DFT' improves the SNR of the input samples to the azimuth FFT. Note that only the 1D FFT output is saved in L3 (as the radar cube). The 2D FFT output needs to be recomputed when performing the azimuth FFT.

Hi Anil,
That is to say,it is reasonable that angle FFT is performed after 1D FFT without regard to the SNR of the input samples. Is that right?I have another question, why can 2D DFT operation before the azimuth FFT improve the SNR of the input samples?

Rata

Can you please start a new thread for the new questions?
Thank you
