AFE4403EVM: EVM board not working (cannot recognized at Device manager, no output clock)

Part Number: AFE4403EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4403, , STRIKE

hello

I bought the AFE4403 EVM board a few days ago.

At first, it works well and I checked my ppg signal with the EVM borad.

But after 30 mins later, suddenly, an error message of EVM GUI  that "cannot connection~~"

so i disconnected the board to my laptop and reconnected it

But laptop didn't recognized the EVM board (not appared the port at device manager_

Additionally, i checked the led light on the board when it works well

but after the error message appeared, the led turned off and can't sense the output clock signal with my oscilloscope.

I think there are some faults of the board because I just use it only 30 mins with default setting of AFE4403 GUI.

I want to ask you how can I repair or exchange this board.

(When I ask the purchase site and ti korea support, they answered that need the checking technical support of E2E Community)

I attached my clock out signal and captured photo of device manager window.

Best regards,

Surin

  • Hi Surin,

Can you please upgrade the firmware of the EVM by following the steps mentioned in the section 7 (i.e. "AFE4403EVM Firmware Upgrade Without GUI") of the user guide?

    Prabin
  • hello
    thank you for your response
the firm ware uploader cannot detect the EVM board because my laptop can't recognized that the board connected.
(the blue LED didn't turn off, that means the usb power not supplied)
  • Hi Surin,

Since LED is controlled by the MSP430, a corrupted firmware might be stopping the LED from glowing.
After releasing the SW2 switch ( i.e. step 4 of section 7) no device was detected, is that what you mean?
One more thing, can you please try on other PCs ( preferably WIN7) as well.
If above mentioned suggestion doesn't work, this means your MSP430 is damaged may be due to ESD strike.

    Regards,
    Prabin
  • Dear Parbin
Thank you for your kind reply.

As you suggested, I tried to connect the EVM to three different computers (one desktop and two laptops), but unfortunately, my EVM didn't recognized.

If my board's msp is corrupted due to ESD,
Is there any other way I can take to solve this problem on my own??

If it is a problem that i cannot solve myself,
I would like to send a response to the purchasing company that I bought the EVM and request to repair or exchange my EVM

    Best Regards,
    Surin
  • Hi Surin,

If you are not seeing "Found 1 device" (as shown below) after following the steps of section 7 of user guide, it points that the MSP430 is damaged.

You can try to replace it and give it a try once again.

    Regards,

    Prabin
