LM95071: Is there any issue if set the SPI clock frequency above max clock frequency without selecting the CS?

Part Number: LM95071

Dear Sir,

We would like to use a LM95071 temperature sensor in our system that has a SPI interface with different chip select for different devices (not only LM95071) and a SPI clock that can have different frequencies, according to the devices selected through the chip select. Is there any issue for the LM95071 if we run a 25 MHz SPI clock  without selecting its chip select?

Best regards,

Tristan

  • Hi Tristan,

I'm not aware of any issues with your approach, but it hasn't been tested. This does violate datasheet specification for frequency. Note that quiescent current is specified with an idle bus, and may increase dramatically in the presence of an active clock at such high speeds.

    Thanks,
    Ren
