How do you read the date code on this part. We see part marking
Hello Glenn,
The package of the TMP400 should have a date code as follows:
TMP400
YMS - Year, Month, Site Code
LLLL - Lot Trace Code
Are you able to send an image of the device marking?
Best Regards,
Brandon Fisher
Hi Brandon,
Please see the picture of the part. We want to know when the part was made, month, week, and year, but month and year is sufficient.
Thanks,
Glenn
Hello Glenn,
I can't see your image, but if the date code you are reading is correct then the device was most likely manufactured in November of 2013. The '3' would refer to the year of manufacturing, either 2013 or 2003, and the 'B' refers to November.
'K' would refer to the assembly site and the second line is the lot code.

Brandon Fisher
Hi Brandon,
I wonder why you can't see the picture of the part? I can see the picture. But it's hard to believe that we bought the parts from TI directly and they sent us 2013 date code. Do you know if these are the extended shelf life parts from TI which extends the shelf life to five years? I didn't think electronic parts like ICs have a shelf life, but they can age or the pins can oxidize over time. I really appreciate your support!
Thanks,
Glenn
Glenn,
Often we manufacture millions of these parts or more in a single lot, so it is feasible that TI and our distributors could have quantity approaching the 5-year shelf life on some parts.
You are correct that the TMP400 is one of our parts with extended shelf-life availability, so if you purchased it from us directly it will have up to a 5-year shelf life. You can verify this through ti.com here.
