CCS/TDC7200: tdc7200 passive components issue

Part Number: TDC7200

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

i have replicated tdc7200 circuit as in gasevm and  evm board but i am not able to read and write the register of tdc7200. In this circuit we have used 1 micro Farad electrolytic capacitor  with 60v rating instead of ceramic capacitor Is that causing any problem....? will capacitor and resistor values and its voltage ratings matters....

For 3.3 volt supply to tdc 7200 we are not able to read and write the registers but for 5 volts we can read and write the registers but all timer, counter and callibration registers values will come random..

Regards,

Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

Do you mean the VREG cap? You should use a ceramic cap as the ESR on an electrolytic cap is too high, and may cause issues with the LDO.

Please try replacing that component and see if it clears up the communication issues as well.

    Regards,
  • Hello scott,

thanks for the reply and other than VREG capacitor whether other resistor and capacitor ratings matters and

    • Is that ok if i leave Flag(6th pin)  empty i have not used 0 ohm resistor across that FLAG pin as in the evm
    • and tdc 7200 chip is not operating properly for 3.3 v supply.

    Regards,

    Vivek
