Hi Ashrith,
I apologize for the issues you are seeing with the Sensing Solutions software connection.
Does the computer recognize the EVM in the Device Manager? It should show up as "EVM" under COM ports. Additionally, is this issue persisting on more than one computer? And is this the only EVM that is unable to connect?
Best regards,
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
I do not see 'EVM' in the device manager.
I have not tested it on any other PC and I have purchased only one EVM.
Hi Ashrith,
Please follow the steps in the following E2E thread to put the EVM into BSL mode and upload the firmware file: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/664915/ldc2114evm-ldc2114evm-firmware-file-needed
Let me know if this resolves the issue.
Best regards,
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
I tried it in BSL mode but I believe the firmware isn't actually being uploaded. I still see the "not Connected" message on the bottom left
Hi Ashrith,
You can load the firmware file using the MSP430 firmware upgrader example that is included with the MSP430DEVPACK:
After installation, locate the firmware upgrader in the following folder: C:\ti\MSP430USBDevelopersPackage_5_00_01\Host_USB_Software\Python_Firmware_Upgrader\Python_Firmware_UpgraderGUI.exe
Open the MSP430 USB Firmware Upgrader once the device is in BSL mode. If the screen does not read "ready..." then select File > Rescan HID bus and confirm that the device is in BSL mode. At that point you can upload the LDC2114 firmware file and then attempt to reconnect to the GUI.
Best regards,
Nicole
Nicole,
The solution worked well and I do get the "connected" message on the sensing GUI.
Going forward do I need to keep it in BSL mode?
Thank you
Hi Ashrith,
No, putting the device in BSL mode should only be done before forcing a firmware update. Once firmware is uploaded the board is no longer in BSL mode
I’m glad to hear that the device is now connecting properly.
Best regards,
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
The problem reappears every Time the EVM is disconnected and reconnected.
When I force the firmware it does stay connected but if the USB is unplugged and reconnected, the GUI does not recognize the device.
kindly help
The issue was resolved. I updated the driver in the device manager PORTS section
Hi Ashrith,
I am glad to hear that the GUI connection is functioning properly now.
Best regards,
Nicole
