DRV5032: compliance to IEC62061 / ISO13489 ?

Part Number: DRV5032

Hi Team,

We are working with one of our customer on a lab instrument design. The design is using our DRV5032 for the docking detection function which they consider relate to the safety aspect of their design. They are currently working on getting the design to comply with the safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement control and lab use - IEC61010-2-081. Customer like to check does the DRV5032's reliability can be demonstrated by compliance to IEC62061 / ISO13489 as alternative method?

Look forward to your feedback, thanks in advance.

Thanks and regards,

Don

  • Don,

You can download a qualification summary of any particular device here

Qualification tests particular to electronic systems outside of what is listed have not been performed.  Depending on the failure, the complete system needs to be able to manage the event to ensure safe operation.  Care will need to be taken to ensure that for any particular fail that there is a procedure in place to prevent erroneous behavior.  There are both Push-Pull and Open Drain output type devices in the DRV5032 family.  For either case, it would be important to consider how to handle either event where the output might become shorted to VCC or GND.  In these cases, the output signal will be stuck in that particular state, and the behavior of DRV5032 has no impact on the behavior of the system.  Either a secondary sensor or some other means of detecting this fault (current sensing for example) might be necessary for the end application to meet this standard considering this particular fail mode.
